Thailand shuts sports-streaming network allegedly linked to online gambling

Thailand's Department of Special Investigation (DSI), a Ministry of Justice agency, said it searched six locations on 1 September and shut the DOOPEANTEAM network over alleged unauthorised sports streaming. Investigators reported finding evidence of links to the UFA Thai online-gambling network; those links remain official allegations, not established findings of guilt.

Officers seized phones, computers, bank records and THB278,000 in cash. The case matters because it shows how free sports streams may be investigated as customer-acquisition infrastructure for illegal betting, while DSI's THB2 billion estimate concerns alleged copyright damage rather than gambling turnover.
